In the 3rd of our 4-section sponsored sequence on clever infrastructure, Computer Business Review joins Hitachi Vantara CTO Tom Christensen to discuss about scaling workloads across infrastructure – and the place to operate them.
As Christensen puts it: “What workloads have in prevalent is that they all need someplace to operate! But when you assess the infrastructure usually people today get in a placement the place they do not have the correct CPU, or plenty of memory.
“Often people today pool all the assets then cross their fingers, as they have ten workloads on it. When they all peak, that’s not good plenty of! So they want 25 per cent more, but that may perhaps be unneeded. You could use a consumption-primarily based model, so when you do not use assets, you do not pay for them.”
